Benefin
Benefin - (Balan or Balfin)
The active ingredient, Benefin is also known as Balan or Balfin. It is principally used for control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. It is classified as a pre-emergent herbicide.
Typical grass and broadleaf weeds controlled: annual bluegrass, barnyardgrass, crabgrasses, crowfootgrass, fall panicua, foxtails, goosegrass, seedling johnsongrass, junglerice, ryegrass, sandbur, Texas panicum, carpetweed, chickweed, knotweed, lambsquarters, pigweeds, purslane, redmaids, and Florida pusley.
Benefin will not control established weeds, it kills weed seeds as germinate providing season long control.
It is not hazardous to mammals or birds, but toxic to fish if placed in the water.
Mode Of Action
Benefin is of the class of inhibitors called dinitroanilines. They inhibit cell division. The results are very few roots emerge, and they are club shaped.
Application
It is generally suggested to incorporate in the soil by mechanical mixing and irrigate afterwards.
