Pro Tips
Pro Tips & Quick Tricks

Aqua Sel Aquatic 53.8 Herbicide is very effective against floating and emerged weeds in ponds and lakes. Compare to the ingredients in Rodeo Aquatic Herbicide
You can choose a glufosinate active ingredient as an alternative to glyphosate herbicides. Glufosinate is another broad-spectrum, non-selective herbicide that comes from soil bacteria. Often sold as ammonia salt, it is a contact herbicide with no soil residual.

Product Information

Aqua Sel Glyphosate 53.8% (Compare to Active Ingredient In Rodeo)

Agrisel's Aqua-Sel 53.8 is labeled for use in aquatic areas (lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, drainage ditches, and similar bodies of water)  for emerged weeds

Aqua Sel with 53.8% Glyphosate is a post-emergent, non-selective herbicide that effectively kills weeds in water. This water-soluble liquid may be mixed with a non-ionic surfactant applied a foliar spray to destroy or control many woody or herbaceous plants.

Application and Application Tips

  • It may be used for both terrestrial and aquatic applications, including rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, drainage ditches and similar bodies of water (reservoirs, canals, estuaries). Aqua Star will not control plants that have most of their foliage is underwater or plants that are altogether submerged underwater.
  • Mix 1 to 10¼ oz per gal of water. Depending on the target weed. See the product label for complete dilution rates and yields.
  • 2.5 gallons will treat up to 5 acres.

To help penetrate the natural waxy tissue barrier of plants, use a surfactant such as Alligare Surface

To avoid drift so that you don't spray desirable plants, use a marking dye, so you can see where you have sprayed. The marking dye will wash off.

How Aqua Sel Glyphosate 53.8% Works

Aqua Sel is systemic that moves through the plant at a point of contact to the roots. You will see visible effects of this weed killer on most annual weeds within 2-4 days. It takes seven days or more to see visible effects of Aqua Star on most perennial brush species. There will be a gradual wilting and yellowing of the plant that advances to a complete browning in above the ground growth and deterioration of underground plant parts.

Aqua Sel Benefits

  • 53.8% Glyphosate formulation effectively kills emerged weeds in bodies of water
  • Can be used in and around waterways for control of labeled weeds
  • Low use rate make Aqua Star economical to use
  • Liquid formulation makes it easy to mix and spray

Alternative Choices to Glyphosate

As an alternative to glyphosate herbicides, you can choose glufosinate active ingredient . Glufosinate is another broad-spectrum, non-selective herbicide that comes from soil bacteria. Often sold as ammonia salt, it is a contact herbicide with no soil residual.

For Use :

Emerged weeds within various bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, drainage ditches, and similar aquatic settings

Do not spray open bodies of water where woody brush, trees, and herbaceous weeds do not exist. The maximum application rate of 7.5 pints per acre must not be exceeded in a single over-water broadcast application except as follows, where any labeled rate may be applied:

• Stream crossings in utility rights-of-way

• Where applications will result in less than 20 percent of the total water area being treated.

Aerial applications of this product are allowed in the following situations: – Forestry sites – Prior to the emergence or transplanting of labeled crops – Aid to burning for establishment and maintenance of fuel breaks – Establishing fire perimeters and black lines – Aid to prescribed burning

Yield 2.5 gallons will treat up to 5 acres
Mixture|Application Mix 1 to 10¼ oz per gal of water. Depending on the target weed. See product label for complete dilution rates and yields.
Application

May use low-volume garden sprayers, boom equipment or hand-held high-volume equipment such as knapsack sprayers. Use coarse sprays only. Applications should be made on a spray-to-wet basis. Spray coverage should be uniform and complete. Do not spray to the point of runoff.

For low-volume handheld sprayers, use 5-8 percent solution for spot treatment of brush and trees It is most effective in areas with a low density of undesirable trees or brush. If a straight stream nozzle is used, start the application at the top of the targeted vegetation and spray from top to bottom in a lateral zigzag motion. Ensure that at least 50 percent of the leaves are contacted by the spray solution. For flat fan and cone nozzles and with hand-directed mist blowers, mist the application over the foliage of the targeted vegetation. Small, open-branched trees need only be treated from one side. If the foliage is thick or there are multiple root sprouts, applications must be made from several sides to ensure adequate spray coverage..

Annual Weeds: Broadcast Application Use 1 1/2 pints of this product per acre plus 2 or more quarts of a nonionic surfactant per 100 gallons of spray solution if weeds are less than 6 inches tall. If weeds are over 6 inches tall, use 2 1/2 pints of this product per acre plus 2 or more quarts of an approved nonionic surfactant per 100 gallons of spray solution. Hand-Held, High-Volume Application – Use a 3/4 percent solution of this product in water plus two or more quarts of a nonionic surfactant per 100 gallons of spray solution and apply to foliage of vegetation to be controlled.

Perennial Weeds:
Apply this product to control or destroy most vigorously growing perennial weeds. Unless otherwise directed, allow at least seven days after application before disturbing vegetation. Add two or more quarts of a nonionic surfactant per 100 gallons of spray solution to the rates of this product given in this list. See the “General Information,” “Directions for Use,” and “Mixing and Application” sections in this label for specific uses and application instructions. NOTE: If weeds have been mowed or tilled, do not treat them until regrowth has reached the recommended stages. Fall treatments must be applied before a killing frost. Repeat treatments may be necessary to control weeds regenerating from underground parts or seeds.

This product may be applied to emerged weeds in all bodies of fresh and brackish water, which may be flowing, non-flowing, or transient. This includes lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, estuaries, rice levees, seeps, irrigation and drainage ditches, canals, reservoirs, wastewater treatment facilities, wildlife habitat restoration and management areas, and similar sites. If aquatic sites are present in the non-crop area and are part of the intended treatment, read and observe the following directions: This product does not control completely submerged plants or have most of their foliage underwater. There is no restriction on using treated water for irrigation, recreation or domestic purposes. Consult local state fish and game agencies and water control authorities before applying this product to public water. Permits may be required to treat such water.
