Essentria IC3 is based on botanical actives. Essentria IC3 as a minimum risk insecticide, replaces the Eco Exempt IC2. Essentria IC3 has the adjuvant added as well as improvment of fragrance.
Essentria IC3-EPA FIFRA 25(b)
Essentria IC3 is classified as a EPA FIFRA 25(b) exempt product and is NOP (National Organic Program) compliant.The active ingredient in Essentria products is a proprietary combination of plant essential oils. Essentria products use a combination of essential oils that match specific 'markers' in the target pest's central nervous systems. The results are natural insecticide compounds that provide fast knockdown and outstanding control of a wide range of insects. With Essentria, there is no compromise between control and safety profile.
Botanical Insecticide
Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate works well for a botanical insecticide. Just about every school system is using Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate. One drawback is that the length of residual activity is shorter than standard insecticides. We like Essentria IC-3, but we recommend the EcoVia EC over the Essentria IC3. EcoVia EC is twice the concentrate for less money. Also Essentria IC-3 often leaks in transit, causing a delay for you to receive your product. There is something about the contents in IC-3 that breaks down the seal. Also, the EcoVia EC also has less odor.
How Essentria IC3 Insecticide Works
Essentria IC3 uses Octopamine Blocker Technology for a unique mode of action providing a fast knockdown and kills a broad spectrum of flying and crawling insects. Essentria is made of essential oils that disrupts the neurotransmitter function in target insects but is safe for vertebrates like birds, fish, dogs and people. Essentria IC3 has no aquatic toxicity and may be used near or over open waters for such insects as spiders and mosquitoes without worry of hurting the fish.
The essential oils that comprise the active ingredients in Essentria products work by disrupting neurotransmitter function in target insects. Neurotransmitters conduct nerve impulses between neurons (nerve cells) and other body parts, such as muscles. The neurotransmitter binds to a receptor site on the affected cell, and then is broken down and deactivated by enzymes. In invertebrates, with their simpler nervous systems, a multi-functional chemical known as octopamine handles many of these functions. By targeting octopamine receptors, essential oils provide insecticidal activity with a much wider margin of safety than other products. Because vertebrates like birds, fish, dogs and people don't have octopamine receptors; they are not affected by the Essentria mode of action. And, by combining multiple essential oil compounds that have varied profiles, Essentria products provide highly effective control of a wide range of insect pests.
