Fastrac Pellets would be considered the best bait to treat rat burrows. Fastrac Pellets contains Bromethalin, which kills inside of 24 hours and has very little chance of secondary poisoning to non-targeted animals like dogs and cats. However, since Fastrac is so acute, there is no antidote. Always use tamper resistant bait stations, if using Fastrac Pellets above ground.

Product Information

Fastrac Pellets - Fast Acting

Fastrac Pellets, with Bromethalin are single feed rodent baits. Fastrac Pellets, unlike other single feed baits, is not an anticoagulant (interference of the blood coagulation process). As a non-anticoagulant, it attacks the central nervous system of the rodent. The mode of death is quicker than other single feed baits. The quick kill allows for a quicker solution to the rodent population. Anticoagulant rodent baits work on a delayed effect basis. A rodent feeding on an anticoagulant bait may continue to forage for another 3-7 days before the effects of the bait work. Since it is not an anticoagulant, secondary poisoning (e.g., a pet consuming the carcasses of rodents poisoned by Fastrac) does not readily occur with bromethalin.

Fastrac Pellets - 6 lbs

This packaging is Fastrac Pellets is in a bulk loose form of pellets. Fastrac is also in packaged as Fastrac Pelleted Place Paks and Fastrac Blox. Fastrac Pellets provide an acute active solution for burrow baiting beyond 100 feet. Fastrac Blox is restricted to within 100 feet of a structure.

Advantages of Fastrac Pellets

  • Broad, general use labeling, includes burrow baiting applications beyond 100 feet from structure
  • Fastrac Pellets kill anticoagulant-resistant rats and mice.
  • The pelleted form has hard edges; rodents like to gnaw on its edges.
  • Bromethalin is the active ingredient-a very fast bait, capable of killing in as little as 1-2 days
  • Low risk of secondary poisoning
  • Norway rats, roof rats, and house mice cease feeding after consuming a toxic dose of Fastrac Pellets

Select Treament Areas : After inspection, determine the areas where the rats and mice will find and consume the Fastrac Pellets. Generally, these areas are by gnawed openings, along walls, in or beside burrows, in concealed places and corners, between walls and floors, or in locations where rodents or their signs have been seen. Protect bait from rain and snow. Remove as much alternative food as possible

Rats : Apply 1 to 6 ounces of bait per placement (usually at intervals of 15 to 30 feet). Adjust the amount of bait applied to the level of rat feeding expected at each bait placement.

For treating burrows, use a long-handled spoon to place ½ to 1 ounce of Fastrac Pellet bait deep into each active burrow entrance. Close burrows with soil 3 to 7 days after bait placement. Retreat with Fastrac Pellets the burrow entrances that are reopened by rats. If the area where treated burrows are located is accessible to children and nontarget animals, check burrows every morning and evening to make sure that the pelleted bait has not been pushed out of burrows. Remove and properly dispose of any bait that has become accessible to children or nontarget animals.

Mice: Apply 1/4 to 1/2 ounce of Fastrac Pellet bait per placement. Space placements at intervals of 8 to 12 feet in infested areas. Larger placements, up to 2 ounces, may be used at points of extremely high mouse activity

Fastrac Baiting Strategy: Highest bait consumption of these pellets is expected to occur on the first day or two after treatment begins. After several days, inspect the placement and replenish bait at sites where there is evidence of heavy feeding or where there is continued evidence of rodent activity.

USE RESTRICTIONS: Fastrac Pellets can only be used to control Norway rats, roof rats and house mice in and within 100 feet of man-made structures constructed in a manner so as to be vulnerable to commensal rodent invasions and/or to harboring or attracting rodent infestations. Examples of such structures include homes and other permanent or temporary residences, food processing facilities, industrial and commercial buildings, trash receptacles, agricultural and public buildings, transport vehicles (ships, trains, aircraft), docks and port of terminal buildings and related structures around and associated with these sites. Fence and perimeter baiting, beyond 100 feet from a structure as defined above, is prohibited. Fastrac Pellets must not be applied directly to food or feed crops. Fastrac Pellets may be applied to active rodent burrows to control Norway rats, and roof rats within or beyond 100 feet of buildings and man-made structures, provided that infestations of these rodents have been confirmed. Fastrac Pellet Bait must be placed no less than 6 inches into active Norway/roof rat burrows. Do not broadcast bait. Because Norway/roof rat infestations may occur in areas farther than 100 feet from buildings and man-made structures when the rodents have ample supplies of food and cover, efforts should be made to remove food trash, garbage, clutter and debris.

FOLLOW-UP: Replace contaminated or spoiled bait immediately. Using waterproof gloves, collect and properly dispose of all dead, exposed animals and leftover bait. To prevent reinfestation, limit sources of rodent food, water and harborage as much as possible. If reinfestation does occur, repeat treatment. Where a continuous source of infestation is present, establish permanent bait stations and replenish as needed.
