1079 Havahart Raccoon Trap is made in the USA. 32 x 10 x 12 inches, galvanized wire mesh, steel reinforcements. For trapping raccoons, stray cats, groundhogs (woodchucks), opossums, armadillos, and similar-size nuisance animals . Spring loaded door
Returns:There are no returns on animal traps unless the traps are damaged or defective.
When setting the trap, test the trigger to see how sensitive you can set it. This setting can be adjusted to set for different animals. Put a Stick across the entrance so the animal steps across it and not on the cage frame.
Use metal stakes like tent stakes to stake the trap to the ground so the animal can not flip over and escape. I like using a minimum of two Traps set back to back from each other. Animals want to be in groups of two or more.
Put bait on the ground in front of the trap but not too close to the door so it doesn't get jarred.
Place bait in the back of the trap, so the animal has to reach and grab the bait, so they step on the trigger to close the door.
Push the trap back and forth on the ground, working the bottom of the trap into the earth accomplishes a natural setting. If the traps are placed near their dens or paths, it is best to disguise the live traps with branches, twigs, leaves, other natural features.
Putting leaves and straw on the bottom floor like the surrounding area helps keep them from being trap shy.
Clean the trap a little as possible to preserve the animal smell.
In Residential Settings :
Use WCS TreeBerry Racoon & Skunk Paste Bait, Marsh Mellows, Grape powder, and Peanut Butter to reduce catching cats' risk.

Havahart #1079 Live Animal Trap
Havhart 1079 Racoon Trap measures 32" x 10" x 12". The Havarhart 1079 is a sturdy trap, made with galvanized wire mesh and steel reinforcements. Unlike many live traps on the market, the Havahart brand is made in the USA.
Havhahart #1079 is perfect for trapping raccoons, cats and opossums. The dimensional weight is considered "oversized", so it is fairly expensive to ship by special handling (Air or 3 day select).
Havahart #1079 Live Animal Trap Features:
Smooth, rolled interior edges to keep the animal from injuring itself. Handle guard to protect your hand from the animal. Multiple trigger settings to capture bigger or smaller animals. Strong door lock to prevent escapes. Galvanized steel to resist rust and corrosion. 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. Made in the U.S.A.
How To Use in Havahart #1079
Crisp bacon, fish, fresh vegetables, wet cat food, chicken parts/entrails, corn, or sardines would be effective baits to lure them in a set 1079Â trap.
Set traps as close to the den as possible where damage is occurring, e.g., at corners of gardens, breaks in stone walls, or along obvious animal trails. If there are a large number of raccoons, set multiple Havahart 1079 traps in a number of different locations.
Check the set Havahart  traps often in order to spot and release non targeted animals such as cats. Raccoons and opossums and similar size nuisance animals are active at night. Check the traps every morniing; twice a day preferably.
When releasing the raccoon, do it far away from human dwellings. In some states, raccoons are a protected species, so check with your game and wildlife department before trapping and releasing them. The release site for these large animals should be over ten miles away.
When using the Havahart 1079, wet cat food is a good bait for raccoons. However,
if you want to trap just a raccoon or opossum and not the neighborhood cats, try using white ping pong balls. I know it sounds weird, but it seems to work like a charm. I think the raccoons think the ping pong balls are eggs. Another excellent bait for trapping raccoons are marshmallows.
