Pac Low Plant Growth Regulator with Paclobutrazol 22.3%, is a plant growth regulator that slows the growth of non-residential turf grass and improves turf quality. It will last up to two months after application. Use of Pac Low is helpful in that it reduces mowing and clippings up to 50% during this period, resulting in equipment and labor savings. To maintain the appearance of the turfgrass and reduce discoloration, use Pac Low on fine turf that is growing by a moderate to high growth rate.

How Pac-Low Works

Pac-Low is a gibberellin inhibitor, slowing vegetative growth systemically on turfgrass, trees, and ornamentals.

Results, when used as directed:

  • For 6-8 weeks, Pac-Low slows verticle growth on established hybrid Bermuda grass, perennial ryegrass, and bentgrass, St. Augustine grass and Kentucky bluegrass/perennial ryegrass turf areas, fairways, roughs, and tees. (over-seeded Bermuda grass and bent grass, use reduced rates.)
  • For 12 weeks, it improves and extends fertilizer performance when it is combined with a nitrogen fertilizer. It enhances the quality of the turfgrass versus used fertilizer alone.
  • It can increase green color as increased chlorophyll amount is concentrated in smaller, more compact leaves.
  • It reduces potential of scalping turfgrass.
  • Due to increasing turf density and a tighter knit turf on treated hybrid Bermuda grass, it has better ball playability as it allows ball to sit higher on the turf.
  • It suppresses Poa annua; reduces competitiveness and growth.
  • Provides economic savings by reducing mowing and labor cost.

Pac-Low Uses on Warm and Cool Season Grasses

  • Warm Season Grasses
    • Use on established St. Augustine and hybrid Bermuda grass, during the season of active growth (after dormancy from the winter and is green).
  • Cool Season Grasses
    • After turf has been mowed a couple of times and is green, apply Pac-Low at least one month before high temperatures occur. Apply at least one month before anticipated frost (in late summer or early fall).
  • To suppress Poa annua
    • Use Pac-Low when Poa annua is actively growing. It is recommended to apply Pac-Low from fall to late spring in areas of areas of moderate temperature.
    • Northern climates: Apply during the spring and fall. If there areas with long winters, apply Pac-Low up to one month before first anticipated frost killer
    • Make repeat applications as part of a Poa annua suppression program.
    • Quality and color enhancement of winter over-seeded turf and suppression of Poa annua: After over seeded turf has been established (there should be almost 85% of turf composition in cool-season turf species).
    • After March 15, do not apply Pac-Low to putting greens to avoid delay in Bermuda grass green-up.
    • In order to achieve the best growth regulating effect, moderate soil moisture conditions should be present.

Application

Apply Pac Low uniformly and evenly on turfgrass (use 2-3 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet, for best results). Use at the rate of 6.4 - 48 oz. per acre. For best results, follow thru with 1/4 inch of rainfall or irrigation after application in order to move Pac Low from foliage onto soil surface.
