Assembly: After dropping the cup into the base, push the retainer ring onto the base (like a funnel, pointing down). Align the clips (on the retainer ring) with the rectangular holes on the base sides. The hanging wire is attached by pulling it through the base holes (square holes opposite each other).
Yellow Jackets, Wasps and Large Flies: Use the photo as seen on the right.
For Moths or for Baiting: Make one big hole by removing the inner disk of the retainer ring. Smaller opening for smaller flies: Remove the inner disk, and then place the retainer ring upward (pointing up like a hill).
Locking on the Cover: The Base has a top rim with four slots that hook into the four portions of the cover. First, place the two adjacent feet (from the wider part ) into the two adjacent slots. Next, lightly press the legs of the other two feet inward while pushing the cover down. The cover needs to be rotated counterclockwise to lock.
Servicing: In order to remove the cover to unlock, rotate it clockwise and press on the two adjacent legs using your index finger and thumb. Remove the feet; the other two feet will lift out. The retainer ring pops out, and the cup can be cleaned or replaced. You can service this trap while the station is still hanging.
