Product Information

Tanglefoot Tangle-Guard 3" x 50' Tree Wrap

Tangle-Guard Tree Wrap is a weather-resistant, coated crepe paper band specifically designed to protect tree trunks from environmental stress and physical damage while also serving as an ideal base layer for sticky insect barriers.

The breathable yet durable material helps shield bark from sunscald, frost cracks, windburn, and rapid temperature fluctuations that commonly injure young or thin-barked trees. It also helps prevent damage from rodents, animals, lawn equipment, and string trimmers.

When used with a sticky compound such as Tree Tanglefoot Insect Barrier, the wrap creates a safe, non-porous surface that prevents adhesives from contacting the bark directly, reducing the risk of injury while forming an effective barrier against crawling pests.

Properly installed, Tangle-Guard helps stop ants, caterpillars, weevils, and other insects from climbing into the canopy to feed or lay eggs, making it an excellent tool for protecting fruit trees, ornamentals, and newly planted trees in landscapes, orchards, and nurseries.

Why Use

  • Protects bark from sunscald, frost damage, windburn, and temperature stress.
  • Helps prevent injury from rodents, animals, lawn equipment, and string trimmers.
  • Provides a safe banding surface for sticky insect barriers without applying products directly to bark.
  • Lightweight yet durable material resists weather and lasts all season.
  • Suitable for young, newly planted, or thin-barked trees.

When to Use

  • Install in fall or early winter to prevent sunscald and cold injury.
  • Apply before peak insect activity when using as a barrier base.
  • Use on newly planted trees during their first seasons of establishment.
  • Maintain through the growing season for ongoing protection.

Pro Tips

  • Keep grass, stakes, and branches from touching above the band to prevent bridging.
  • Install out of reach of children and pets when used with sticky products.
  • Check periodically during the season for loosening or pest bypass routes.
  • Combine with proper pruning and sanitation for best tree health.
