Product Information
Tenacity herbicide will allow lawns to look well from the beginning. Tenacity can be applied to existing weeds at seeding and provide residual control to continue keeping lawns and turfs looking good. It can be used to remove crabgrass, nimbleweed, bentgrass and other difficult to control weeds. It removes broadleaf weeds such as clover, dandelion, and chickweed. See label for a complete list.
Tenacity is a systemic herbicide used in cool season turf and is safe to use in newly seeded and established turf. It has a wide window of application. Two applications are needed for control of listed weeds as a post-emergent treatment.
As a pre-emergent and post emergent herbicide it will control 46 weeds and grass species (see label for a complete list). Tenacity is classified by EPA as a "Reduced Risk" product compared to other herbicides. It is naturally derived from the bottlebrush plant.
- Can be applied prior to, at, or after seeding of tolerant turfgrasses.(See label for timing of applications of seedling turf)
- Removes creeping bentgrass from roughs and approaches as well as bluegrass from roughs.
- Ideal for renovations
Tenacity's Unique Mode Of Action
The active ingredient, Mesotrione curtails photosynthesis by inhibiting a plant enzyme called HPPD. It also prevents carotenoid formation in susceptible plants. Without this carotenoid formation, chlorophyll and cell membranes are destroyed and the leaves are white or bleached with resulting death of the plant. After the susceptible  plant absorbs, Tenacity Herbicide will work in two to three weeks.
