Why the new website?
Our retail store joined the World Wide Web in 1996 but in 2002, our website was separated into two domains. doyourownpestcontrol.com and store.doyourownpestcontrol.com. The former being the informational/content part of our website and the latter being the e-commerce side. Since these websites looked and functioned differently, this led to customer confusion. However merging two websites with thousands of pages and thousands of products was a massive undertaking so this was avoided for as long as possible.
This website has been a long labor of love and we hope you enjoy the new customer experience and access to all of our great content and wide selection of products in one place. Nothing on the backend has changed so you still have access to your past orders, reward points, and the same wonderful non-commission sales and customer service teams if you have any questions!
We plan to continue to update the website with new features, content, and videos so expect things to see some changes every time you visit!
Why the domain change?
Many years ago when the internet was first beginning, there was a limit on url length and availability. We ended up with the domain doyourownpestcontrol.com despite operating a retail business since 1982 called Do-It-Yourself Pest Control. We recently had the opportunity to purchase our new domain diypestcontrol.com. We hope this new domain is easier for customers to remember and brings us back to our roots and original name!
History of the business
Father and son, Thomas and Walt Cline, started the business together in 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia in what used to be gas station off I-85 in Chamblee. We actually still own and operate this retail store! Walt’s sister Cindy joined the business a few years later and is responsible for having the company join this new crazy thing called the internet in 1996. The business operated the e-commerce side alongside the retail store but eventually outgrew the space and moved to a warehouse in Suwanee in 2004. We have changed warehouse locations in Suwanee three times as we continue to grow. We eventually opened and still operate a second warehouse in Phoenix, Arizona to allow for faster shipping times to the Western United States. Walt's children, Scotti and Fletcher grew up working summers in the family and officially in the last decade. They continue to work with Walt, Cindy, and many employees who have been with the company for 10, 20, even 30 years.
