A blossom-end rot is a ugly, sunken, and brown area at the bottom of your tomato. One of the most common causes of blossom-end rot is a lack of calcium. When too much nitrogen fertilizer is applied, a calcium deficiency may occur. Other reasons of blossom-end rots are hot dry winds, irregular watering and rapid growth followed by prolonged dry weather conditions.
Bonide's Rot Stop, balanced fertilization, careful irrigation will provide a steady plant growth and will help stop this rotting condition. It also works on cucumber, pepper and melon plants.
Use 2 oz per gallon of water. Apply to point of run off onto the foliage and fruit during periods of rapid growth or following excessive rain fall. Apply in early morning or evening when temperatures are lower to avoid foliage burn. Make applications 5-7 days apart when conditions are favorable for appearance of disorder. Regular spray programs are not recommended as prolonged spraying and rates in excess of those specified can cause foliage burn.
