ContraPest: Effective Birth Control for Rat Populations
One of the more pervasive rat control issues is killing the growing rat population more quickly than it can reproduce. This population increase is called the "rebound effect." If you do not significantly reduce the rat population, it may rebound to its original or larger size. ContraPest will tackle this common problem by proactively targeting their reproductive capabilities with this highly attractive sweet and fatty liquid bait.
There has not been a bait aversion shown to ContraPest.
How Does ContraPest Work?
- After your rodent inspection to determine the location of rat activity, place the ContraPest Tanks and their accompanying tray inside a Protecta Evo Express bait station.
- The rats will drink the ContraPest liquid bait (non-lethal) as they search for a water source.
- The rat population begins to reduce.

Installation
Place the bait station on a firm, level surface in an area of rat activity. Avoid placing bait stations in direct sunlight to reduce ContraPest evaporation. Do not place bait stations where they are likely to become submerged or inundated with water (e.g., below the mean higher high-water mark in tidal areas, in storm sewers, or catch basins) or on an uneven surface.
- Remove the cap, keeping the opening down, and screw the tank onto the tray while keeping it level. Do not overtighten.
- The flow of liquid should begin immediately. Do not squeeze the tank to encourage the flow of bait.
- Place insert into the bait station.
Maintain an uninterrupted supply of ContraPest bait at the stations. Check bait stations and replace bait inserts as necessary, or at least every month. Properly dispose of any leftover bait, as instructed in this label's Storage and Disposal section.

Prepare Your Home's perimeter for ContraPest Installation
- Remove bird feeders and bird baths. They both encourage rat populations by supplying them with water and food sources.
- Trim overgrown tree limbs and clutter that encourage rodent habitats.
- Remove branches, fallen fruit, leaves, and needles from the ground.
- Remove brush piles.
- Stacked firewood must be off the ground at least 18 inches and 12 inches from a wall for optimal sanitation.

Contrapest Placement
- Following a rodent inspection, position the ContraPest Tank and tray inside a Protecta Evo Express bait station in areas with rat activity.
- The fatty, sweet formulation will attract rats, prompting them to drink it.
- As a result, the rat population will start to decrease.
