Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait
Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait is made to wipe out fire ant colonies completely. Highly attractive to imported fire ants, this bait is quickly picked up and carried back to the mound. It’s available in convenient smaller sizes and larger economy packs to fit your needs.
- Extinguish Plus 1.5 lbs: Covers up to 1 acre
- Extinguish Plus 4.5 lbs: Covers up to 3 acres
- Extinguish Plus 25 lbs: Covers up to 16.6 acres
Formulated with both an insect growth regulator (IGR) and a slow-acting insecticide, Extinguish Plus stops ant reproduction and kills existing worker ants for complete, long-lasting control.
Why Choose Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait?
Extinguish Plus delivers a powerful one-two punch, combining Hydramethylnon (a slow-acting stomach poison) with Methoprene (an insect growth regulator). The insecticide wipes out foraging ants, while the IGR prevents the colony from making a new generation.
Once the ants feed and carry the bait back, the colony will start declining in about a week. Full mound destruction follows once the queen dies, ensuring total elimination.
Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait – Baiting Tips
Since Extinguish is a slow-acting bait, you may want to pair it with Surrender Fire Ant Killer for fast mound treatments. Surrender kills fire ants quickly, while Extinguish finishes the job.
The best time to bait is in spring or fall, but you can bait anytime ants are actively foraging — usually early mornings or late afternoons.
Before baiting, inspect for activity. Place a small piece of pet food or a potato chip near a mound to check if ants are foraging.
For best results, think "picnic weather" — sunny, dry, and soil temperatures above 60°F. Avoid baiting on wet ground and make sure no rain is expected for at least six hours.
