Product Information

Kaput-D Pocket Gopher Bait controls pocket gophers in a manual, below-ground application. The active ingredient in Kaput-D Pocket Gopher Bait (Wheat) is Diphacinone, which effectively controls gophers. The bait comprises small red grains that can be applied on golf courses, lawns, rangeland, and non-crop areas to eliminate gophers within a week. Additionally, Kaput-D comes with an antidote to ensure safety.

Application Method 1

Method 1: To locate the main burrow, utilize a pointed metal rod for probing. Once the burrow is penetrated, the probe will "give." The next step is to remove the probe and insert a funnel into the hole. Apply 1/2 cup of Kaput bait and plug the hole with leaves, grass, or other materials to block out light and prevent soil from covering the bait. It is advisable to repeat this process 2-3 times per burrow system. If fresh mounds appear after 2-3 weeks, it is important to repeat the treatment.

Application Method 2, 3, and 4

Method 2: First, extract the plug from the mound using a long-handled teaspoon. Next, deposit a 1/2 cup of Kaput bait deep into the burrow. Once done, seal the opening with soil, ensuring the bait is not covered. If fresh mounds emerge after 2-3 weeks, repeat the process for complete extermination.

Method 3: If using a bait station underground, place 1 lb of Kaput Gopher Bait in the station, aligning the openings of the station with the gopher's tunnel system. Then, cover the station with dirt and continue to add bait to the station as needed.

Method 2

Method 4:

When using a hand probe applicator, ensure the tip is inserted into the burrow system and penetrates the tunnel. Adhere to the instructions on the applicator and distribute 1/2 cup of bait into the gopher burrow. Upon completion, withdraw the probe and cover the remaining hole with a sod plug or close it by kicking the opening shut. In the event of new mounds appearing after 2-3 weeks, repeat the process.

Select Treatment Areas

To select the right treatment areas for dealing with pocket gophers, it's important to understand their habits and habitat.

Pocket gophers create low, fan-shaped mounds of earth above ground as they tunnel below.

The entrance to their tunnel is typically found near the edge of the mound and plugged with soil.

Short lateral tunnels connect to the main burrow system, about 18 inches from the mound and 10 inches below the surface. Gopher burrow systems can cover an area of up to 50 feet in diameter.
