Get Rid of California Ground Squirrels and Fleas
Kaput Ground Squirrel Bait is designed to control California ground squirrels in areas near human structures, such as yards and flower gardens, using secure, tamper-proof bait stations. The product may also help reduce flea populations on ground squirrels through systemic action.
It targets fleas like Oropsylla montana and Hoplopsyllus anomalus. Always follow the label instructions carefully, using the bait only for the specified pests, in approved areas, and with the directed application methods. Do not apply this product broadly.
Use Tamper-Resistant Bait Stations
To ensure safe application, this product must be used in tamper-resistant, rat-sized bait stations such as the Protecta LP. These stations should be designed to prevent access by children under six years of age and dogs. Place stations securely so they cannot be tipped over by pets, small children, or wind. In areas with livestock or non-target wildlife, bait stations must be firmly anchored to prevent access. Always dispose of containers and any unused, spoiled, or unconsumed bait according to label directions.
Application Directions:
Place tamper-resistant, rat-sized bait stations in areas easily accessible to California ground squirrels, ideally near active burrows. The spacing between stations should correspond to squirrel population density, typically ranging from 20 to 100 feet apart.
Wear waterproof gloves and use a long-handled scoop to place 2 to 4 pounds of bait into each station. Check stations regularly to maintain a continuous supply for at least 15 days or until signs of squirrel activity and feeding are observed.
