Imidacloprid 2F Select Termiticide/Insecticide
Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I protects structures as a long-lasting barrier that controls termites and some ants. Both pest control professionals and turfgrass professionals have long relied on the active ingredient imidacloprid.
Wood Destroying Insects: Termites and Carpenter Ants
Imidacloprid 2F as a non-repellent termiticide means that multiple types of termites can not detect it to avoid it. It works through contact and ingestion; termites exposed to Imidacloprid 2F can transfer the active ingredient to unexposed nestmates. It establishes a protective barrier against termites. One 27.5 oz bottle can make up to 100 finished gallons of termiticide.
It provides a strong barrier against carpenter ants that may want to forage inside.
For a typical control situation, use a 0.05% dilution(0.3 oz per gallon of water). Use a 0.1% dilution (0.6 oz per gallon of water) when a severe or persistent infestation exists. See the label for further details on controlling wood-destroying insects.
Application on Turfgrass
Imidacloprid 2F controls Northern & Southern masked chafers, Asiatic garden beetle, European chafer, Green June beetle, May or June beetle, Japanese beetle, Oriental beetle, Billbugs, Annual bluegrass weevil, Black turfgrass, European Crane-fly, and Mole crickets. It can also suppress chinch bugs and cutworms. Apply this insecticide before or during the egg-laying period for the best control. There is enough residual activity so applications can be made before they lay their eggs. The rate is 20.0-25.6 fl oz per acre or 0.46-0.6 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft. The label restricts the application to no more than 25.6 fl. oz. (0.4 lb. of active ingredient) per acre per year.
Application to Ornamentals
Imidacloprid 2F is a systemic insecticide to apply to trees, shrubs, evergreens, flowers, foliage plants, groundcovers, and interior plantscapes. The plant takes it up from the roots. You can make foliar or soil applications, as well as soil injections, drenches, or broadcast sprays. Foliar applications offer locally systemic activity against listed insect pests. See label for application rates.
