As a perimeter and lawn granulated product, Talstar PL fights against Ants (including Imported Fire Ants), Mole Crickets, Fleas, Ticks, Roachs, Scorpions, Spiders and other bothersome insect pests on lawns and landscaped areas.
How To Apply Talstar PL
Using a spreader would apply Talstar PL evenly for broadcast and perimeter treatment. Talstar Pl may be used as a perimeter treatment, broadcast lawn treatment, boundary treatment or mound treatments. As a perimeter treatment barrier, apply Talstar Pl in a 5-10 ft band around a structure. An average rate of application for broadcast lawn treatment is 3-5 lbs of the 25 lb bag. One bag will cover between 5,000-10,000 sq feet.
Fire Ants : Spread 1/2 cup of Talstar PL Granular Insecticide per mound for Fire Ant control, then drench the mound with 1 to 2 gallons of water.
Chinch Bugs: Because Chinch Bugs are in the thatch layer, irrigate the treated area with up to 0.25 " of water after application to activate Talstar PL. Because chinch bugs are difficult to control, it may require higher application rates.
Mole Cricket Adults: Mole Crickets are difficult to control because of their continuous invasion during the early spring. Apply late in the day and water after application with 0.5" of water. Irrigate before application if the soil is not moist in order to bring the mole crickets closer to the soil surface.
Mole Cricket Nymphs: For areas of intense presence of Mole Crickets, treat in the spring before the peak egg hatch periods. This is the optimum control at this time because the young nymphs are more susceptible to insecticides. If the application for mole cricket nymps is later than spring time, higher rates of application may apply.
Scorpions: Treat the building perimeter at dusk for the best scorpion control. Treat before scorpions before they enter the building. Scorpions hide during the day in cracks and voids and are active during the night when temperatures exceed 77ºF/25ºC. Using a UV Tracker will fluoresce the scorpions. Treat these areas. Scorpions use firewood, trash and debris as resting sites. Cleaning these areas would improve treatment plans.
