Mode Of Action
Chlorothalonil is noted for minimizing disease resistance to fungicides. It has a multi-site mode of action as opposed to a single-site mode of action. Multi sites are different. Multi site fungicide attacks different sites on the fungus, making it very difficult for resistance to develop.
Resistance Management
To reduce the liklihood of resistant fungi it is advisable to tank mix Chlorothanlonil DF with a fungicide of different chemistry such as Quali-Pro's Propiconazole 14.3% or Armada WDG. A tolerant or resistant strain may be present if Chlorothanlonil DF is used as directed and is not effective. At that point, discontinue use of Chlorothanlonil DF for one season.
