Product Information
Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide
Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide offers a targeted approach to managing filamentous algae, benthic algae like Chara and Nitella, and rooted aquatic plants like Hydrilla. This algaecide delivers fast results with rapid sinking granules, visibly reducing algae growth within 1-2 days.
Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide contains chelating agents that prevent copper precipitation with carbonates and bicarbonates, ensuring longer-lasting effectiveness than copper sulfate. This product is best suited for bottom-growing algae in deeper waters.
This granulated algaecide controls stringy-filamentous algae in residential ponds, small lakes, drinking water, and swimming ponds. Treated water is safe to drink for animals and livestock. It is non-toxic to fish and has a longer shelf life than other copper algaecides.
Top Advantages
- Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide will give a visible reduction in algae growth in 1-2 days.
- Rapid sinking granules for targeted delivery to bottom growing algae.
- Chelating agents prevent the precipitation of copper with carbonates and bicarbonates in the water for longer activity.
- Stays active in the water longer than copper sulfate
- Ideal for algae in deeper waters or bottom-growing algae - use Cutrine Plus Algaecide (liquid) for algae on the surface or in the water column
Application
For best results, spread Cutrine Plus Granular early in the day: This usually allows for a quiet water surface and ample sunlight for maximum control. Broadcast by hand or use a dry fertilizer spreader.Â
Large Area Treatment(Over 5,000 sq ft): Apply at 60 pounds per acre (67.2 kg per ha). Â Distribute evenly over the water surface directly over the vegetation to be treated. Â A dry fertilizer spreader may be used to ensure even distribution. Â
- Identify form(s) of targeted bottom-growing algae (Chara / Nitella or Filamentous) or Hydrilla. Chara and Nitella should be treated early in the season. Â As the season progresses, they become very resistant. Â Under usual circumstances, a single application per season to the treatment sector is necessary. Â
- Estimate the height of targeted plant growth (in ft.) in the water column. This would be the distance from the bottom to the top of plants.
- Calculate the surface area (acres) of the treatment area (area of infestation and apply per surface acre based on the type and height of targeted growth. See the label to determine the surface area.
- To avoid suffocating fish due to lack of oxygen caused by decaying vegetation, never treat more than 1/3 to 1/2 of a lake or pond at a time. Â Allow sufficient time between treatments for oxygen levels to recover (usually 1 - 2 weeks).
- Â Begin treatment along the shore and proceed outwards in bands to allow fish to move into untreated areas. Â Consult your State Fish and Game Agency before applying this product to public waters. Â
Spot and Small Area Treatment( (under 5,000 sq ft):
- For treatment around small areas such as docks, rafts, water intakes, etc., apply the product uniformly at the rate of 1.5 pounds (24 oz.) per 1,000 square feet.
- Â Heavy growth may require re-treatment.Â
