Deployment GuideProduct Information
ContraPest-Isolate Bait System
ContraPest is a reproductive inhibitor for female and male rats and a highly palatable liquid contraceptive. By restricting fertility in both Norway and roof rats, it leads to a significant decrease in the number of rats on site. ContraPest extends the existing efforts of your integrated pest management (IPM) program for results you can rely on.
Why Rats Like This Bait
ContraPest is a liquid formulation that is high in fat and tastes sweet, which is a preferred flavor profile for rodents, particularly rats. The liquid formulation was partly developed based on rodents’ significant daily water requirements. Rats consume 10% of their body weight in water each day. In early testing, ContraPest was consumed in the presence of other food and water sources.

How To Use Contrapest Isolate Bait Kits
Select Treatment Areas
ContraPest baited stations should be carefully placed close to rat foraging areas to control the population effectively.
Rat populations are concentrated in areas with steady food sources and little predator threat. Inspect where rats are most likely to come across and eat bait. These sites may include hidden crevices along walls, close to burrows, structural gaps in floor, wall, or ceiling regions (for example, in rafters, beams, or attics), or anywhere else where rats have been active.
Use strategic placement at foraging location, not standard spacing.
It is advised to utilize chew cards or non-toxic bait blocks to locate these areas. Multiple bait stations may be set up in the designated foraging zones if necessary.
Installation of Isolate Bait System
- Place bait stations in areas where rats are known to feed (for example, dumpsters, animal feed, loose trash, etc.)
- When possible, utilize areas where previous baiting has been successful
- Keep bait stations at least 30 feet away from lethal methods
- Place one (1) Isolate Bait System in the station compartment and remove the seal.
- Deployment Guide
- Maintain an uninterrupted supply of ContraPest bait at the stations.
- Check bait stations and replace bait inserts as necessary, or at least every month.
- Add a second ContraPest Bait Station if 50% or more of the Isolate Bait System has been consumed between service visits to ensure a constant supply.
- Replace ContraPest monthly or as often as needed if consumption is high for optimal performance.
- If consumption is repeatedly low or ceases, try relocating the bait station to a different location
- Properly dispose of any leftover bait, as instructed in this label's Storage and Disposal section.

Product Care
-
Place the bait station on a firm, level surface in an area of rat activity. Avoid placing bait stations in direct sunlight to reduce ContraPest evaporation. Do not place bait stations where they are likely to become submerged or inundated with water (e.g., below the mean higher high-water mark in tidal areas, in storm sewers, or catch basins) or on an uneven surface.
