Ant Granules

Ant Granules
Granular insecticides are a really good way to keep ants out of your yard. Don’t confuse granular insecticides with granular baits. Granular baits are food particles treated with an insecticide or an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR). While they are attractive to ants and work quite well to eliminate existing colonies, they are short lived and cost more per pound. If your goal is to prevent ants from establishing colonies in your yard, then a granular insecticide is a terrific choice. Granular insecticides contain no food ingredients. They are simply small granular particles, usually sand, clay, or another absorbent material that are treated with an insecticide. When spread evenly over the yard, the granules must be activated by watering. This can be done by rainfall, sprinklers or hand watering. Each time they get wet a small amount of the insecticide is released. Some granular insecticides can continue to work for many months, providing a long term deterrent to ants.
