Application
Only apply PenaShield to bare wood surfaces. Remove any finishes or water repellents before applying PenaShield. Clean any dirt to make sure that the wood is free of contaminates.
One gallon of PenaShield will treat 150-250 square feet of wood surface (one coat). Coverage will vary depending on the surface texture and porosity of the wood. A second coat would be needed it the wood is 1 inch or thicker. Apply the second coat after the first coat has been absorbed, about 20 minutes. Apply PenaShield to the point of runoff.
On wood with only one or two sides available, treat at least twice to the point of runoff.
Repeat applications of PenaShield should be made at least 20 minutes apart. Read and follow all label instructions before use.

Notes for Powderpost Beetles and Penashield Application
Powderpost Beetles may have adults emerging from treated wood up to a year, due to their life cycles.
If the wood is too dry (less than 15%), depth of penetration with the Penashield may only occur to the top 1/4 inch. To solve this, spray the wood first with water to increase moisture.
