Characteristics
- Hydrocotyle umbellata
- commonly known as pennywort
- warm season perennial weed
- silver dollar shaped leaves
- leaves resemble miniature lily pads and are round and bright green
- leaves are 1-2” in diameter
- low growing
- the stem is located in the middle and is often confused with dichondra, which stem is located on the edge
Treatment
Selective
- one of the more difficult to get rid of broadleaf weeds
- properly identify your grass and filter out products that are not safe for your lawn
- best results will occur during the summer months while there is active growth
- recommended chemicals include indaziflam, isoxaben, 3 ways (2,4-D, MCPP, and Dicamba), quinclorac, metulfuron-methyl and carfentrazone
